ABOUT THE DAVID FLOHR AWARD
The David Flohr award will be given annually to the Volunteer of the Year for Midway. David Flohr has been the Treasurer of the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum from the beginning of the project in the early 1990’s, through the ship’s arrival in San Diego and now continues on the Board of Directors as the museum begins its first year of operations. During that time, David spent thousands of hours volunteering his considerable talents to the management of this project. His tireless support of the myriad of administrative procedures required by the United States Navy, City and Port of San Diego as well as the Coastal Commission and other regulatory agencies, was directly responsible for the Midway overcoming all roadblocks put in her path, and quite simply, the Midway would not be in San Diego without David’s efforts. There is no other person who deserves as much credit or who exemplifies the true spirit of volunteerism, as much as David Flohr, and it is in his honor that this award will be proudly given each year to our top performing volunteer.
